Product Overview

The Triconex 3625 belongs to the Triconex 3000 series of I/O modules. This supervised digital output module meets the needs of systems with outputs in a single state for extended periods. The Triconex 3625 receives output signals from the Main Processors on each of three channels. Each set of three signals is voted upon by a fully fault-tolerant quadruplicated output switch. The switch elements are power transistors for reliable operation. The Triconex 3625 has voltage and current loopback circuitry with sophisticated online diagnostics.

Technical Specifications

The Triconex 3625 delivers reliable digital output control for critical safety applications. All parameters follow the official datasheet.

Core Architecture & Type

  • Module Type: Triple Modular Redundant (TMR)

  • Configuration: Supports both Supervised and Non-Supervised Digital Output (DO) configurations

  • Color Code: Dark blue

  • Protection: Self-protecting design with no external fuses required on field termination

  • Output Density: 32 points, commoned

Output & Electrical Ratings

  • Nominal voltage: 24 VDC

  • Operational voltage range: 16 to 32 VDC

  • Maximum peak voltage: 36 VDC

  • Continuous current per point: 1.7 A maximum

  • Surge current: 7 A per 10 ms duration

  • Minimum required load: 10 mA

  • Load leakage: 4 mA maximum

  • Voltage drop: Typically less than 2.8 VDC at 1.7 A

Power & Isolation

  • Power module load: Less than 13 watts

  • Point isolation: 1,500 VDC

  • The Triconex 3625 provides excellent electrical isolation between points.

Supervised Field Fault Detection

The Triconex 3625 extends fault coverage to potential field problems. The module can detect the following field faults:

  • Loss of power or blown fuse

  • Open or missing load

  • A field short resulting in the load being energized in error

  • A shorted load in the de-energized state

Diagnostic Capabilities

The Triconex 3625 provides comprehensive real-time monitoring of both internal logic and field-side conditions.

  • On/Off state: 1 dedicated indicator per point

  • Module status indicators: PASS, FAULT, LOAD, and ACTIVE

  • Field alarm: LOAD with 1 dedicated indicator per point

  • Power alarm: Energizes when failure to detect field voltage occurs

  • Load alarm: Energizes when failure to detect load presence occurs

Key Design Features

  • Fault coverage extended to field problems

  • No need to influence output signal for verification

  • Fully fault-tolerant quadruplicated output switch

  • Supports hot-spare modules for redundancy

  • Requires separate external termination panel (ETP) with cable interface to Tricon backplane

Installation Guide

Follow these steps to install the Triconex 3625 correctly.

  1. Power down the Triconex chassis before inserting any module.

  2. Connect the external termination panel (ETP) to the Tricon backplane.

  3. Align the Triconex 3625 with the correct slot in the chassis.

  4. Slide the dark blue module firmly into place until fully seated.

  5. Secure the module using the top and bottom retaining screws.

  6. Connect field wiring to the external termination panel for all 32 points.

  7. Apply 24 VDC power (16 to 32 VDC range) to the Triconex 3625.

  8. Verify PASS indicator illuminates and FAULT indicator remains off.

Packing List

This package for the Triconex 3625 includes the following items.

  • Triconex 3625 supervised digital output module (one unit)

  • Product identification label sheet

  • Anti-static protective bag

  • Installation instruction leaflet

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is the difference between supervised and non-supervised operation?
The Triconex 3625 supports both configurations. Supervised mode extends fault coverage to field problems like open loads or short circuits. Non-supervised mode operates without field fault detection.

2. Does the Triconex 3625 require external fuses?
No, the Triconex 3625 has a self-protecting design. You do not need external fuses on the field termination for module protection.

3. What is the continuous current rating per point on the Triconex 3625?
Each point on the Triconex 3625 can handle 1.7 A continuous. Surge current capacity is 7 A for up to 10 ms duration.

4. Does the Triconex 3625 support hot-spare configuration?
Yes, the Triconex 3625 fully supports hot-spare modules. This feature provides redundancy for critical output applications.

5. What indicators are available on the Triconex 3625?
The Triconex 3625 has PASS, FAULT, LOAD, and ACTIVE indicators. Each of the 32 points has dedicated On/Off and LOAD alarm indicators.
