Product Overview

The Emerson A6125 belongs to the trusted CSI 6500 Machinery Health Monitor series. It is a 3U size, single-slot plugin module. This device monitors case vibration on critical rotating machinery. Applications include steam turbines, gas compressors, and hydro turbo machinery.

The main function of the Emerson A6125 is accurate machine protection. It compares vibration parameters against alarm setpoints. The module then drives alarms and relays to prevent damage. This unit fully complies with API 670 standards for machinery protection.

Technical Specifications

The Emerson A6125 features two independent differential inputs. It accepts piezoelectric accelerometers or velometers as sensors. The input resistance is greater than 100 kΩ. Signal input voltage range depends on the model variant.

For the A6125/00 model, the range is 311 to 9500 mV peak-to-peak. For the A6125/10 model, it is 16 to 450 mV peak-to-peak. The sensor supply provides constant current of 2 to 8 mA at 30 VDC.

Key Frequency Response Parameters

The Emerson A6125 offers selectable filter frequency ranges. For accelerometer sensors, you have three options:

  • High range: 30 to 8000 Hz

  • Medium range: 10 to 2000 Hz

  • Low range: 6 to 1000 Hz

For velometer sensors, the ranges are different:

  • High range: 10 to 2000 Hz

  • Medium range: 6 to 1500 Hz

  • Low range: 2 to 250 Hz

The A6125 supports RMS or 0-to-Peak measurement modes. You can configure these settings per channel independently.

Environmental and Installation Data

The Emerson A6125 operates in tough industrial environments. Its operating temperature range is 0°C to 65°C. Storage temperature extends from -30°C to 85°C. Relative humidity tolerance is 5% to 95% non-condensing.

The module complies with IEC 68-2 for vibration and shock. It withstands 0.15 mm displacement from 10 to 55 Hz. Shock resistance is 98 m/s² peak for 16 ms. The unit has EMC resistance per EN50081-1 and EN50082-2.

Power consumption for the Emerson A6125 is a maximum of 6W. This equals 250 mA at 24 VDC. The module width is 30.0 mm (6 TE). Its height is 128.4 mm (3 HE). Length is 160.0 mm, fitting standard 100 x 160 mm Eurocard format.

Outputs and Alarm Features

The A6125 provides multiple rear output options. Each channel has a 0/4-20 mA current output. The permissible load for this output is less than 500 Ω. Accuracy is ±1% of full scale. Settling time is configurable from 0 to 10 seconds.

Each channel also has a 0-10 VDC voltage output. Rear buffered outputs offer the same 0-10 VDC signal. The frequency range for buffered outputs is 0.075 Hz to 13 kHz at -3 dB ±20%.

Alarm setpoints include Alert and Danger levels. Each can be set from 5% to 100% of full scale with 1% resolution. Alarm hysteresis on a decreasing signal is 0-20% of full scale. Time delays per channel are 0 to 5 seconds.

The Emerson A6125 offers remote selectable limit multiply. Trip bypass is also available via remote relay input. The self-checking facility monitors hardware, power input, temperature, sensor, and cable.

Packing List

  • 1 x Emerson A6125 Case Piezoelectric Vibration Monitor Module

  • 1 x Front panel with handle and LED indicators

  • 1 x Mini DIN configuration socket adapter (RS-232)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q: Can the Emerson A6125 work with existing seismic sensors?
A: No. The A6125 is specifically designed for newer piezoelectric sensors. Many plants replace older seismic sensors with piezoelectric types for better reliability.

Q: Is the A6125 module hot swappable while the system runs?
A: Yes. The Emerson A6125 is a fully hot swappable module. You can replace it without shutting down the entire CSI 6500 rack. Always ensure the replacement module has the same configuration.

Q: What measurement units does this module support?
A: The A6125 outputs in g’s for acceleration or mm/sec (in/sec) for velocity. You select RMS or 0-to-Peak detection during configuration. Displacement measurements are available through velometer inputs.

Q: How do I configure the A6125 vibration monitor?
A: You use the front Mini DIN socket with an RS-232 connection. The module interface allows parameter and status monitoring. Configuration is password protected to prevent unauthorized changes.
