Installation Guide
Follow these steps to install the Bently Nevada 330880-28-15-020-01-02 correctly. First, mount the outer sleeve on a rigid test stand. Ensure the housing axis stays parallel to horizontal. Second, secure the housing using the end hole on the outer sleeve. Tighten the retaining nut to 29.5 N·m (260 in·lb). Third, set the probe gap to 1.27 mm (50 mils) for best linear performance. Fourth, connect field wiring using 3-conductor shielded triax cable. Keep total wiring length under 305 metres (1000 feet). Finally, verify the supply voltage stays between -23 Vdc and -26 Vdc when using barriers.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1: What machinery works best with the Bently Nevada 330880-28-15-020-01-02?
A: This model suits large rotating machines like steam turbines, gas compressors, and industrial pumps. It monitors radial vibration and axial position very well.
Q2: Can I use this probe below -34 °C (-29 °F) continuously?
A: Avoid exposing the probe to temperatures below -34 °C. This may cause premature failure of the pressure seal. The safe operating range starts at -51 °C, but long-term use below -34 °C is not recommended.
Q3: What happens if I supply a voltage more positive than -23.5 Vdc?
A: Operation above -23.5 Vdc reduces the linear measurement range. You will lose accuracy near the -1 Vdc to -17 Vdc output window. Always use -23 Vdc to -26 Vdc for best results.
Q4: How do I check the frequency response when using long field wiring?
A: The system maintains 0 to 10 kHz response with up to 305 metres of field wiring. For high-frequency signals, refer to the frequency response graph (Figure 1, page 7) to see signal rolloff.
Q5: Is the housing strong enough for high-vibration areas?
A: Yes. The housing supports 912 N (205 lbf) load with cover fastened. It also withstands 4 Joule impacts at extreme temperatures from -39 °C to +115 °C.
