Product Overview
The Schneider Electric 140DAO84000 controls AC loads in your Quantum system. This module provides 16 isolated discrete outputs. Each output handles 20 to 253V AC voltage. The 140DAO84000 uses one output word for addressing. You can drive solenoids, contactors, and indicator lights directly. Its isolated design prevents electrical noise between channels.

Protection and Response
Protection Type: Internal RC filter
dv/dt Rating: 400 V/ms
Turn-On Time: ≤ 0.5 ms (0 to 1 state)
Turn-Off Time: ≤ 0.5 ms (1 to 0 state)
Absolute Max Output: 300 Vrms for 10 seconds AC, 400 Vrms for 1 cycle AC
The 140DAO84000 responds very quickly to logic commands. Its RC filter reduces electromagnetic interference. You can safely switch inductive loads with this module.
Local Signaling LEDs
The Schneider Electric 140DAO84000 includes several status indicators:
Active LED (green): Bus communication is present
F LED (red): External fault detected
16 LEDs (green): Individual output status
These LEDs help you troubleshoot field wiring problems fast. Each output LED lights when the channel turns on.
Electrical Characteristics
Bus Current Required: 350 mA
Power Dissipation: 1.85 + (1.1 V x total module load current)
Associated Fuse: 5 A per module (external)
Marking: CE certified
Calculate your cabinet heating using the dissipation formula. For a 10 A total load, dissipation equals 1.85 + (1.1 x 10) = 12.85 W.
Installation Guidelines
Follow these steps to install the 140DAO84000 module:
Turn off power to the Quantum rack completely.
Select an empty I/O slot in your Quantum chassis.
Slide the 140DAO84000 into the chosen slot firmly.
Secure the module with top and bottom retaining screws.
Connect AC load wires to the removable terminal block.
Install a 5 A slow-blow fuse on the common return path.
Apply power and verify the green Active LED lights up.
Do not exceed 4 A per output or 16 A per module. Use copper wires rated for 60°C minimum. Keep AC wiring separate from low-level signal cables.

Common FAQs
Q1: Can the 140DAO84000 switch DC loads directly?
A1: No, the 140DAO84000 works with AC loads only. For DC outputs, use models like 140DDO84300.
Q2: What external fuse protects the 140DAO84000 best?
A2: Schneider Electric recommends a 5 A slow-blow fuse for the 140DAO84000. Install one fuse per module on the common return.
Q3: Why do my outputs show voltage when turned off?
A3: The Schneider Electric 140DAO84000 has small leakage current (1-2.5 mA). This is normal for AC solid-state outputs.
Q4: How many 140DAO84000 modules fit in one Quantum rack?
A4: You can install up to 28 140DAO84000 modules in a full Quantum rack. Total bus current must stay below the power supply limit.
Q5: Does the 140DAO84000 support hot swapping?
A5: No, the 140DAO84000 does not support hot swapping. Always turn off rack power before removing or inserting this module.
