Product Overview

The 330906-02-12-05-02-00 belongs to the 3300 NSv Series. Its product type is a Reverse Mount Probe. The product classification is Sensor, Transducer & Probe. The current price for this item is ¥3,780 RMB, and the product gross weight is 0.12 kg.

Bently Nevada manufactures this probe in the U.S.A. for process compressor applications. The thread option is 3/8-24 UNF for the probe case. The total length option is 05, providing 0.5 meter (20 inches) . The connector option is 02, which includes a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with standard cable. Meanwhile, the agency approval option is 00, meaning no special certifications are required. Consequently, this 3300 NSv Reverse Mount Probe suits demanding applications requiring chemical resistance without the need for hazardous area approvals.

Technical Specifications

Chemical Resistance and Applications

The NSv probe has increased chemical resistance compared to the 3300 RAM probe. This enhanced resistance allows its use in many process compressor applications. Additionally, the side-view characteristics are superior to those of the 3000-series 190 probe. These improvements become evident when gapping the 3300 NSv probe at the same distance from the probe target. Therefore, this probe excels in harsh chemical environments.

Thread Configuration

The probe case features 3/8-24 UNF threads for installation. The reverse mount design comes standard with either 3/8-24 or M10x1 threads. For proper installation, the maximum rated torque is 22.6 N•m (200 in•lb) , while the recommended torque is 7.5 N•m (66 in•lb) . Thus, follow these torque specifications to avoid damage to the probe case or mounting surface.

Total Length and Weight

The total length option is 05, providing 0.5 meter (20 inches) from probe tip to connector. This short length suits installations where the Proximitor Sensor mounts close to the probe. The system weight for the probe alone ranges from approximately 14 to 150 g (0.5 to 5.3 oz) depending on configuration. This lightweight design minimizes mechanical loading on the mounting point.

Connector Type

The connector option 02 provides a miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector with standard cable. All components of the transducer system use gold-plated brass ClickLoc connectors. These connectors lock into place and prevent the connection from loosening due to vibration. Consequently, the signal path remains secure and reliable even under extreme machine vibration.

Patented Technologies

The patented TipLoc molding method provides a robust bond between the probe tip and the probe body. This design prevents tip separation under mechanical stress and thermal cycling. Therefore, long-term reliability is ensured even in demanding compressor applications.

Electrical Specifications

For a 0.5 meter probe, the DC resistance from center conductor to outer conductor (RPROBE) is 4.0 ± 0.5 ohms. This low resistance ensures accurate signal transmission from probe to Proximitor Sensor. Field wiring accepts 0.2 to 1.5 mm² (16 to 24 AWG) wire. With ferrules, use 0.25 to 0.75 mm² (18 to 23 AWG) instead. Bently Nevada recommends using three-conductor shielded triad cable for optimal performance. The maximum field wiring length is 305 meters (1,000 feet) between the 3300 XL NSv Proximitor Sensor and the monitor. However, longer wiring may cause signal rolloff at high frequencies.

Linear Range and Gap Setting

The linear range is 1.5 mm (60 mils) . Specifically, linear range begins at approximately 0.25 mm (10 mils) from target. This linear range extends from 0.25 to 1.75 mm (10 to 70 mils) . For reference, this corresponds to approximately -1 to -13 Vdc. The recommended gap setting is 1.0 mm (40 mils) . This differs from the standard 3300 XL 8 mm probe, which uses a 2.5 mm gap setting. Therefore, always use the NSv-specific gap setting for accurate measurements.

Mechanical Specifications

Probe tip material is Polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) . This material provides excellent chemical resistance and dimensional stability. Probe case material is AISI 304 stainless steel (SST) for corrosion resistance and mechanical strength. The probe case thread options for the 3300 NSv probe include armored and unarmored 1/4-28, 3/8-24, M8x1 and M10x1 probe threads.

Temperature Range

The operating temperature range is -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +351°F) . Similarly, the storage temperature range is -52°C to +177°C (-62°F to +351°F) . However, exposing the probe to temperatures below -34°C (-30°F) for a sustained period may cause premature failure of the pressure seal. Therefore, avoid prolonged operation at extremely low temperatures.

Pressure Sealing

3300 NSv probes are designed to seal differential pressure between the probe tip and case. The probe sealing material consists of a Viton O-ring . This provides excellent chemical resistance and pressure retention. Consequently, the probe maintains machine integrity while providing reliable vibration and position measurements.

Installation Guide

Follow these steps to install your 330906-02-12-05-02-00 correctly.

  1. Prepare the Mounting Hole: Ensure the 3/8-24 UNF threaded hole is clean and undamaged. Verify that threads are free of debris.

  2. Apply Thread Lubricant: Use a suitable lubricant on the probe threads. Do not allow lubricant to contact the probe tip or Viton O-ring.

  3. Thread the Probe: Hand-thread the 330906-02-12-05-02-00 into the mounting hole. Turn until finger-tight.

  4. Torque the Probe: Tighten to the recommended torque of 7.5 N•m (66 in•lb) . Do not exceed the maximum rated torque of 22.6 N•m (200 in•lb) .

  5. Connect Extension Cable: Attach a mating ClickLoc connector to the probe connector. Push until you hear a distinct click.

  6. Set the Gap: Adjust the probe position to achieve the recommended 1.0 mm (40 mils) gap. The DC voltage should read approximately -10 Vdc .

  7. Secure the Locknut: Tighten the locknut with pre-drilled safety wire holes. Install safety wire for vibration-resistant locking.

  8. Connect to Proximitor: Route the extension cable to the Proximitor Sensor. Finally, complete the wiring to your monitoring system.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. What is the difference between the NSv probe and the standard 3300 XL probe?
The NSv probe offers increased chemical resistance compared to standard probes. Additionally, it has a different linear range (1.5 mm versus 4.0 mm) and a smaller recommended gap (1.0 mm versus 2.5 mm). Therefore, the 330906-02-12-05-02-00 is specifically designed for process compressor applications.

2. Can I use this probe with standard 3300 XL extension cables and Proximitors?
Yes, the miniature coaxial ClickLoc connector is compatible with standard extension cables. However, you must use a 3300 XL NSv Proximitor Sensor for proper linear range calibration. Standard Proximitors are calibrated for the 4.0 mm range, not the 1.5 mm NSv range.

3. What temperature limitation should I be aware of for this probe?
While the probe operates from -52°C to +177°C , exposing it to temperatures below -34°C (-30°F) for a sustained period may cause premature pressure seal failure. Thus, avoid prolonged low-temperature operation below this threshold.

4. What is the purpose of the Viton O-ring on this probe?
The Viton O-ring seals differential pressure between the probe tip and case. This prevents process fluid leakage while maintaining measurement accuracy. Viton provides excellent chemical resistance for compressor applications involving oils and hydrocarbons.

5. Why does this probe not carry agency approvals?
The agency approval option 00 indicates that no special certifications are required for this configuration. For applications needing hazardous area approvals, order the version with option 05 (Multiple Approvals) instead. The 330906-02-12-05-02-00 suits non-hazardous installations only.
