Installation Guidelines
Install the K-LB-1.30 on a 35 mm DIN rail (EN 60715). Always connect the device to a high-quality ground connection. The barrier must have the same potential as the devices it protects. Install the ground system according to local regulations. Connect the unprotected field side to terminals 1 and 2. Connect the protected control side to terminals 7 and 8. Do not exceed 30V DC continuous operation. The K-LB-1.30 protects both signal lines. For hazardous area use, observe the EC-type examination certificate.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Is the K-LB-1.30 suitable for 4-20 mA loops?
Yes. The K-LB-1.30 has less than 0.5Ω series resistance. The leakage current is below 5 µA. This does not affect 4-20 mA signal accuracy.
2. What happens after a surge event?
The K-LB-1.30 resets automatically in less than 30 ms. There is no manual reset required. The device continues normal operation.
3. Can I use this barrier outdoors?
No. The K-LB-1.30 has an IP20 rating for indoor mounting only. You must place it inside a weatherproof enclosure for any outdoor installation.
4. Does this device work with HART communicators?
Yes. The K-LB-1.30 is HART transparent. It does not introduce insertion loss that would block HART frequencies (typically 1-2 kHz).
5. What is the difference between the K-LB-1.30 and a standard fuse?
A fuse blows and must be replaced. The K-LB-1.30 clamps the voltage and diverts current. It resets automatically. This provides uninterrupted protection.
