Product Overview
The MTL4532 belongs to the MTL5500 Series. Its product type is a Pulse Isolator. The product classification is Sensor, Transducer & Probe. The current price for this item is ¥3,850 RMB. The product gross weight is 0.35 kg.
This MTL4532 isolates pulses from hazardous area devices. You can connect switches, proximity detectors, or pulse transmitters. The MTL5532 shares the same core specifications. This Pulse Isolator repeats signals with extremely fast response times. It also generates a 4/20mA output proportional to frequency. A relay output acts as an alarm threshold. You configure everything using a personal computer.
Technical Specifications
Channel and Input Types
The unit has one, fully floating channel. The sensor can be a switch or proximity detector. The proximity detector must follow NAMUR standards. The MTL4532 also accepts 2-wire or 3-wire pulse transmitters. Switches can sit in Zone 0, IIC, T6 areas. Proximity detectors need suitable certification for T4-T6.
Switch and Proximity Detector Input
For a simple switch, the output turns ON when closed. For a NAMUR proximity detector, the excitation voltage is 7.0 to 9.0V dc. This comes from a 1kΩ nominal resistor. The output turns ON when input current exceeds 2.1mA. The output turns OFF when input drops below 1.2mA. The switching hysteresis is 0.2mA nominally.
Current and Voltage Pulse Input
For current pulse input, the transmitter supply is 16.5V dc at 20mA. The short circuit current is 24mA. The input turns ON above 9.0mA and OFF below 7.0mA. For voltage pulse input, the impedance exceeds 10kΩ. You can select the switching point at 3V, 6V, or 12V. Switches on the module side let you choose easily.
Safe-Area Outputs
The pulse output has a maximum delay of only 10µs. This makes the MTL4532 ideal for high-speed counting. The off-state voltage reaches 35V maximum. The on-state resistance is just 25Ω. The on-state current supports up to 50mA. The current output ranges from 4 to 20mA. It can under-range to 0mA and over-range to 22mA. The load resistance is 0 to 450Ω at 20mA.
Frequency and Accuracy
The frequency range reaches 0 to 50kHz in pulse output mode. For the analogue output, the range is 0 to 10kHz. The accuracy is better than 20µA at 20°C. The temperature drift stays below 1µA/°C. The rise time from 10% to 90% is 60ms. The ripple is less than 50µA peak-to-peak.
Alarm and Indicators
The relay output turns ON during an alarm condition. It supports 0.5A at 35V dc maximum. The pulse width minimum is 10µs for both high and low states. Three LED indicators show status. Green means power is present. Yellow lights when the output circuit is active. Red flashes during a line fault or error.
Power and Safety
The MTL4532 draws 65mA at 24V dc. It draws 70mA at 20V dc and 55mA at 35V dc. Maximum power dissipation is 1.35W at 24V. The safety description includes Um = 253V rms or dc. Terminals 2 to 1 output Uo=10.5V, Io=14mA, Po=37mW. Terminals 4 to 3 and 1 output Uo=28V, Io=93mA, Po=651mW.
Installation Guide
Follow these steps to install your MTL4532 correctly.
Power Down: Disconnect the 24V dc supply to the rack. This prevents any short circuits.
Mount Module: Insert the MTL4532 into a suitable MTL backplane or base. Push until fully seated.
Connect Field Wires: Wire your NAMUR sensor to terminals 2 and 1. Wire your pulse transmitter to terminals 4 and 3.
Connect Safe Area Outputs: Wire the pulse output to your counter. Wire the 4/20mA output to your PLC input.
Apply Power: Connect 24V dc to the power terminals. Verify the green LED turns on.
Configure: Use a PC with MTL PCS45 software. Connect via a PCL45USB interface. Set your switching points and alarm levels.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Can the MTL4532 work with a standard 3-wire NPN sensor?
Yes, the MTL4532 accepts 2-wire or 3-wire voltage pulse transmitters. Set the switching point to 3V, 6V, or 12V.
2. What happens to the analogue output when the input stops?
The 4/20mA output drops to 0mA after two missing signal periods. The minimum detection time is 5ms.
3. How fast can the MTL4532 count pulses?
This Pulse Isolator handles frequencies up to 50kHz in pulse output mode. The delay is only 10 microseconds.
4. Do I need a separate power supply for the NAMUR sensor?
No, the MTL4532 provides built-in excitation of 7.0 to 9.0V dc. The internal 1kΩ resistor powers the sensor directly.
5. Which software configures the MTL5532 model?
You need MTL PCS45 software running on a personal computer. Use the PCL45USB serial interface cable.
