Product Overview
The HACH DRC1R5N is a digital combination pH and ORP sensor. This sensor measures oxidation reduction potential in industrial liquids. The measurement range spans from -2000 to 2000 mV. A platinum electrode provides the sensing surface for accurate readings. The DRC1R5N comes with an integral coaxial sensor cable. Delivery includes the AD 1200 Digital Gateway and a digital extension cable.

The transmission distance requires the Hach Digital Gateway for full range. The DRC1R5N also needs a termination box and sc100 controller.
Mechanical and Material Specifications
Body Material: PPS (Polyphenylene Sulfide)
Electrode Material: Platinum
Sensor Thread Size: 0.75 inch
Cable Length: 5.5 meters (integral coaxial cable)
Sensor Cable Type: Coaxial plus two conductors for temperature option
Wetted Materials
The HACH DRC1R5N uses the following wetted materials.
PPS body
PTFE double junction
Glass with platinum electrode
FKM or FPM O-rings
Special Notes on pH Applications
Most pH applications operate in the 2.5 to 12.5 pH range. General purpose pH glass electrodes perform well within this range. Some industrial applications need accurate measurement below pH 2. Others require control above pH 12. Consult Hach Technical Support for these extreme applications.
Installation Guide
Follow these steps to install the HACH DRC1R5N correctly.
Mount Sensor: Screw the 0.75 inch thread into a standard process fitting.
Connect Gateway: Attach the AD 1200 Digital Gateway to the sensor cable.
Run Extension Cable: Use the included 1m digital extension cable.
Connect to Controller: Wire the gateway to an sc100 controller.
Verify Transmission: Ensure total cable length stays within 1000 meters.
Calibrate Sensor: Use standard ORP calibration solutions for accuracy.
The DRC1R5N requires no temperature compensation for ORP measurement. Do not exceed 6.9 bar pressure or 105°C temperature. PPS body resists most chemical腐蚀 but check compatibility with your process.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is the difference between pH and ORP measurement?
The HACH DRC1R5N measures ORP, not pH directly. ORP indicates a solution's oxidation or reduction potential in mV. pH measures acidity or alkalinity. This sensor uses a platinum electrode for ORP measurement. For pH measurement, you need a separate pH sensor.
2. Why does the DRC1R5N have no temperature compensation?
ORP measurement does not require temperature compensation. The DRC1R5N measures millivolts directly from the platinum electrode. Temperature affects pH measurement but not ORP values significantly. The two additional cable conductors can support a separate temperature compensator if needed.
3. How far can I transmit the signal from this sensor?
The HACH DRC1R5N transmits signals up to 1000 meters. You need the AD 1200 Digital Gateway included in this package. A termination box and sc100 controller are also required. Beyond 1000 meters, signal quality may degrade noticeably.
4. What is the maximum pressure for the DRC1R5N at lower temperatures?
The HACH DRC1R5N handles 6.9 bar at 100°C. At lower temperatures below 100°C, the pressure rating increases. Refer to Hach documentation for specific temperature-pressure curves. Do not exceed 100 psig at 212°F as specified.
5. Can I submerge the DRC1R5N completely in my process tank?
Yes, the HACH DRC1R5N has an IP-rated construction for immersion. The PPS body and FKM O-rings provide a watertight seal. Ensure the cable connection remains above liquid level. Thread sealing tape may be needed for pressurized applications.
6. How accurate is the DRC1R5N for high purity water applications?
The HACH DRC1R5N accuracy is ±20 mV limited by calibration solution. High purity water with very low ionic strength may cause unstable readings. Platinum electrodes require some conductivity for stable mV measurement. Use a special low-conductivity ORP sensor for pure water applications.
Related Accessories
Enhance your ORP measurement system with these compatible parts.
Controller: Hach sc100 for signal processing and display
Termination Box: Hach TB4 for secure cable connections
Calibration Solution: Hach ORP standard 200 mV and 600 mV
Mounting Fitting: Hach 1 inch or 2 inch immersion holder
